My first book, Rise: Surviving and Thriving After Trauma, is now available to buy in shops and from online retailers listed below.
In Rise I illustrate my own path through being diagnosed with breast cancer and undergoing a double mastectomy, using my own diaries. It changed the way I looked at life and forced me to reassess everything.
The experience prompted me to explore the science of resilience and growth after trauma, which I do in the book with help from those who have emerged from horrific experiences feeling changed yet stronger. It tells of their new perspectives on their life, their relationships and their work. It also includes the latest science on health, sleep, diet, exercise and how to rewire your mind after a challenging event like the loss of your health, or someone you love.
The book is honest, yet positive and optimistic and I hope it helps you, or someone you love, navigate tough times.
If you’d like to read some extracts from the book, these are available here.
I have been speaking about Rise in the media in the lead up to publication. You can catch up on the articles, radio and TV appearances on my Media and Reviews page.
I’ll also be making several public appearances about the book, including at this year’s Hay Festival. Have a look on my listings page to find out where.
And finally, if you are affected by any of the issues raised by the book, have a look at my resources page for links to helpful organisations.
